Beer Group

A few words About us

The All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group (link to APPG Register HERE) was set up in 1993 and is one of the largest and most active All-Party Parliamentary Group in Westminster.

Every MP has, on average, 3 breweries in their local constituency and 80 pubs, providing employment, training and skills, and supporting local communities through fundraising, cultural events, and being a welcoming social space to meet family and friends.

The aims of the Group are:

  • Champion the wholesomeness and enjoyment of beer and the unique role of the pub in UK society;
  • Increase understanding of the social, cultural and historic role of brewing and pubs in the UK and their value to tourism;
  • Broaden recognition of the contribution of brewing and pubs to employment and to the UK's economy;
  • Promote understanding of the social responsibility exercised by the brewing and pub industries;
  • Support the UK's brewing industry worldwide;
  • Promote a positive future for beer and the pub.

Our Support

The APPBG is supported by 57 corporate members.

It has an independent Secretariat and fully complies with the rules governing All-Party Parliamentary Groups. This is not an official website of Parliament. It has not been approved by either House. APPGs are informal groups of Parliamentarians with a common interest in particular issues.

The views expressed are those of the group.
